Brazilian Samba Drumming Workshop
Samba drumming is one of the most popular forms of music in Brazil. It is widely viewed as Brazil’s national musical style. In these workshops children practice and perform different Samba rhythms, first using their voices and then on the different Samba drums.

Capoeira Dance Workshop
Capoeira popularity spreads throughout the world and never more so than in the schools in the UK. Not only does it introduce the Brazilian culture but it also gets children active. An alternative to PE or an interactive addition to cultural studies the fun workshop enhances hand and eye co-ordination, promotes muscle toning and increases over all fitness levels.
Dating as far back as the 16th Centaury it is known for its complex movement quick leg sweeps and acrobatic qualities. Taught by a Capoeira master Trap Media’s non contact workshop allows participant to explore the physical elements of the ancient art while uncovering its cultural South American routes.
Salsa Dance Workshop
Originating from Cuba, this is a one of the most popular dance across Latin America. The great attraction of Salsa dance is that there is no right way to dance it. You can dance Salsa on any beat or across the beat. The emphasis is on fun and enjoying the music as you work your way across the dance floor.
Afro Cuban Percussion Workshop
In this afro cuban percussion workshop participants will learn rhythms and technique for Afro-Cuban percussion styles .Participants will have the opportunity to work with a variety of cuban different instruments and styles and learn several arrangements that will be brought together in percussion session at the end of the workshop.
Participants will be exposed to various instruments including: Tumbadoras (congas), Cajones (boxes), Bombo (Cuban carnaval bass drum) Claves, Campanas (bells), Cata (bamboo played with wooden sticks) and Shekeres (beaded gourd shakers).
Carnival Arts Workshops - Mask/Costume/Bead Making Workshops
These workshops look at the role of street art within parades, carnivals, street theatre, festivals and celebrations. The use of colour, creativity and costume is explored. Participants are encouraged to create their own designs, try on and make head dresses, props and accessories.
Carnival Venetian Mask Making Workshop @ THe Astley Cooper SchoolCarnival is a popular celebration across the world, and this celebration is characterised by colourful costumes and masks. In the workshop, participants also learn about the meaning and representations of certain masks, such as the spiritual uses of masks evident in some ancient African traditions.
