Drama Workshops Here! From Musical Theatre to Acting & Bullying

Fire the Imagination with Affordable and Engaging Drama Workshops for Children and Adults

There are few things more rewarding than helping people, particularly children, to express themselves creatively, whether that is through acting, singing or creative writing. With a busy school curriculum to follow, how often do children get to express themselves in a non-academic way?

Let your students astound you by booking one of our impressive range of creative workshops, including drama, creative writing and storytelling workshops. Learning to give voice to the inner self through acting or creating art is one of the most liberating life experiences and can provide lasting benefits, especially to those who may lack in confidence. From mime workshops to musical theatre, Trap Media can deliver something a bit different for your school.

Dramatic performances are also an effective way to enable children to explore difficult social issues in a safe environment. Learning to handle inter-personal conflict, including bullying, is an ongoing issue both inside and outside of school. We can provide novel methods of tackling difficult social problems by introducing novel strategies like open forum theatre or role-playing.

Of course, our drama and creative workshops are not exclusively for children. Giving employees a day away from the office, to learn circus skills or Shakespearean acting, for example can have multiple benefits, including increased morale, better team-working and enhanced confidence when giving presentations.

Learning by Doing

A lot of classroom-based activities rely on children’s logical processing skills. While this form of teaching plays a major part in school life, many children benefit from being given time and space to experiment.
Following our workshop, some of the benefits that you might start to notice, are:

  • Increased Creativity – Once children learn how to work with their imagination, they never forget. Our creative writing workshops help to unlock the talent within every child.
  • Improved Behaviour – By finding acceptable ways to express their feelings, children will be less frustrated and less likely to misbehave.
  • Enhanced Self-Confidence – Achievement in life is rooted in self-confidence. Our drama workshops focus on interaction and helping participants discover the creativity that lies within them.
  • More teamwork– Children will get used to working with one another towards a specific goal. This skill can be transferred to the classroom.

We always place great emphasis on inclusion; participants will get the opportunity to learn and reproduce the skills they have gained in the workshops, leaving them feeling enlightened, confident and inspired.

Musical Theatre Workshops

Give your students a taste of the West End, with a fully interactive, educational musical theatre workshop. After this fun and creative workshop, they will appreciate how music, voice and movement can be woven into a unique art form that can both tell a story and express characters’ wishes and feelings.

Musical Theatre Workshops

Musical films like Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang still captivate children today. With talks, games and lots of singing and dancing, our musical theatre workshops offer children the chance to create and perform their own musical masterpiece.

Our Musical Theatre Workshops will commence with an informal talk about Musical Theatre, an Ice breaker game and a quick voice and body warm up.

At the end of the session, all students will be able to share what they have been taught usually with a performance, they will also be asked to share what they have learnt.

PSHE Workshops

As you will know, the National Curriculum provides non-statutory guidelines for the provision of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE). Trap Media will help you enact these guidelines, while adding an extra dimension that will appeal to children.

If there are particular issues that you want to address, for example bullying, sex education, gun and knife crime or substance and alcohol abuse, Trap Media are experienced in tackling difficult subjects in a novel way. For example, our expert facilitators will create thought-provoking role-plays, or an open forum theatre, with students suggesting courses of action for the actors to take in a range of social situations.

Pshe workshops

By raising tricky subjects within the supportive and positive environment of a PSHE workshop, some students will feel more comfortable in talking through their own conflicts and discussing solutions.

Circus Skills Workshops

Roll up! Roll up! The fascinating history and impressive skills of the circus make this workshop a real crowd-puller. Participants will learn about the foundational skills, including concentration and self-awareness on which the mastery of juggling, acrobatics and other circus feats are built.

They will then get to grips with the techniques themselves, from juggling, riding a unicycle and using the hula hoop to mastering the art of spinning plates. After their induction, it’s time for the fun to really begin as participants show off their skills in a live circus performance.

Physical Theatre Workshops

Resisting a clear definition, physical theatre is a fascinating mix of styles and approaches that challenges the distinctions between actor and audience, theatre and dance. Participants will learn some basic skills and develop an awareness of their own body and its relationship to the surrounding space.

They will practise working collaboratively with others as they work towards a live performance at the end. Since physical theatre relies heavily on improvisation rather than scripting, the results can be truly amazing to see.

They will focus on the areas below:

Movement

Conditioning, strength and flexibility, grounding and presence, muscle and spatial awareness, energy and focus to support physical and imaginative play.

Analysis

Develops a movement vocabulary based on skeletal and muscle structure and employs these skills to study movement in action, and to develop craft for physical presentation and choreography.

Theatrical Acrobatics

Analyses movement in action develops self-assurance, muscle awareness and vocabulary to engage the body in an active preparation for theatrical play.

Technique

Connects analysis and theatrical imagery to develop choreography and presentation skills.

Improvisation

Through experiential learning participants undertake an essential theatrical voyage from identification with imagery, transferring this process into theatrical play and transforming this play into performance.

Presentation

Challenge participants to present their own imagery to the stage in front of others.

A Physical Theatre Workshop can be adapted in length to the needs of the school and its timetable. They can be geared towards a particular issue that the students would like to tackle or they can be more free and open. The Workshop normally ends with a live performance by participants to put into practice the techniques they have learned during the workshops.

Stop! Before Booking Any Drama Workshops...

Let me ask you a simple question... with so much choice on the internet how do you know you are getting 100% Authentic drama workshops at the best price, can all these companies claiming to be providers of workshops be relied on?

At Trap Media we kid you not when we say we can guarantee you that no one else in the UK can offer a wider range of professional workshops at an amazing price than us.

So before booking with someone else consider these questions below and you will realise Trap Media is the company of choice for any creative workshops nationwide. We just don't provide workshops we provide an experience you will never forget.

World CupDo they have CRB Checks, Public Liability and a Child Protection Policy in place to safe guard vulnerable people?

World CupAre the workshops professional? Meaning what is the workshop leaders experience?

Dear Trap Media,

The musical theatre workshops offered by were excellent. We have a very difficult client group here, which often means they are hard to engage and their appointments with therapists etc leads to last minute timetable changes, but none of this phased Leanne and the end result was a fabulous mini production of the Lion King.

Thank you very much for once again providing an excellent service!

S Belenger - Enrichment Co-ordinator - Totton College PRU
