African Dance Workshop @ Leyton School

Typical Dance Workshop/Lesson plans:

Dance Workshops will commence with a lively and fun cardiovascular warm up to loosen up students and get the heart rate going. There will then be some stretching and toning exercises (sit ups and press ups) to work the muscles.

Part one: Across the floor – basic steps to be traveled across the room in pairs to get the students used to traveling with movement.

Part two: Introduction to basic technique, (e.g. hip hop body popping, Bollywood face & hand gestures, street locking or basic/advanced footwork) with a short explanation, which is then demonstrated in a short combination.

Part three: A dance sequence is taught utilising elements of both from the styles learnt.

The dance workshop will end with the group being split into two so each group can give a mini – performance, while the other acts as the audience. Click here to see a Dance Workshop Video.
