This time of year our African Drumming Workshops are really the most  popular workshop we offer. Ok so black history month plays a huge part but what makes African Drumming Workshops one of the most popular workshops, not only at this time of year but all year round?

To understand the popularity we need to understand what happens in a African Drumming Workshop, then it is very easy to see why this is so popular.

With an introduction to the drum participants are first introduced to the drum and how it is an important part of African Culture. Participants sit in a circle where each has a drum placed in front of them. One of our authentic African Drummers will then do a brief overview of the drum, from experience participants are usually itching to get stuck in and make a noise with the drum! The Drummer will then take participants through various noises and rhythms making students repeat and explore the sounds.

Having taken part in an African Drumming Workshops myself I can honestly say that it really does require focus and learning.  Everyone’s faces where most certainly focused on trying to keep in time with the rhythm and create a great sound.
