So What is an African Dance Workshop About?
African dance types are distinct from each other because of the diversity, of the traveling groups and the tribes that practice them. The African dances symbolize traditional values of the people related to them. These dance types help the African people to praise and communicate with each other. African dances heavily rely upon the African music, which is a very interesting form of music, despite the fact that in many African tribal languages, there is no particular word for 'music'.
Well Africa is a vast continent, consisting of many countries and hugely diverse cultures. African dance mainly refers to the collective dance type of the Sub-Saharan Africa, which is the African tribal dance. There are many aspects that affect the African dance types. Here are some glimpses of African dance types...
African tribal dance or African folk dance is performed on almost all the occasions in the people's everyday life. The African folk dance is nothing but a cultural activity that is followed sincerely, almost as a ritual. African people dance on all the occasions like childbirth, various festivals, marriages, recalling certain experiences in the past and funerals.
African dances tend to explain the lives and feelings of an African individual, a couple or an entire community. The African dances are classified on the basis of gender and deeply reinforce certain community structures like age, status, context and kinship. In African dance, men usually expend jumps and leaps while women dancers perform crooked knee positions and bent body postures. The most recognized dancing method is a group of dancers dancing in a circle with a drummer in the middle.
What do I learn in an African Dance Workshop?
Our African & Caribbean dance workshops are designed to introduce participants to the rich culture of the African/Caribbean people as experienced in their dance, rhythm, and music, which are vital means of expression. In this workshop, participants gain a deeper understanding of African dance culture.Participants will learn how to respond to the African & Caribbean rhythms that accompany the dances by clapping and singing the rhythmic patterns. Songs will be taught that accompany certain dances. To broaden their awareness, children will learn about the musical instruments and important cultural aspects of the countries where the dances originated.
Sessions may run from 30mins to 1 hour, depending on the age group, and fit with the school timetable where possible. The time may be used in many ways; often schools want every class to have at least one contact so everyone has an opportunity to share the excitement.
African Dance Workshop @ Girl Guiding 100 yearsA traditional dance experience not to be missed! Welcome Dance - This dance is performed to please the visitors and show them the happiness that the tribe is feeling.
Celebration or Love Dance - These dances are performed on weddings, various tribal festivals and anniversaries.
Coming of Age Dance - This dance is performed to celebrate 'coming of age' of the young men and women.

Stop! Before Booking Any African Dance Workshops...
Let me ask you a simple question... with so much choice on the internet how do you know you are getting 100% Authentic African dance workshops at the best price, can all these companies claiming to be providers of workshops be relied on?
At Trap Media we kid you not when we say we can guarantee you that no one else in the UK can offer a wider range of professional workshops at an amazing price than us.
So before booking with someone else consider these questions below and you will realise Trap Media is the company of choice for any creative workshops nationwide. We just don't provide workshops we provide an experience you will never forget.
Do they have CRB Checks, Public Liability and a Child Protection Policy in place to safe guard vulnerable people?
Are the workshops authentic? Meaning is the workshop a traditional based multicultural experience?
Can they provide you with at least 5 testimonials from various organisations?
Can they provide you with workshops in Dance, Drama, Music, Visual, Asian and African Arts to your requirements?
Can they deliver nationwide? If so are you sure they will turn up or cancel on you at short notice?
Do they have any credibility or do you know how long they have been around for?
Do they have a dedicated support team to help you coordinate your event?
Well if they can't answer these questions above with full confidence we strongly recommend not using them quite frankly! We take pride and passion in every workshop we provide and you will not be disappointed. You really don't want to ruin your event or day by booking with the wrong company. We have seen so many organisations let down by companies claming to provide similar workshops - so choose wisely.
